Free sheet music - Capotasto Music

Free sheet music by Peter EdvinssonMy name is Peter Edvinsson and I am a musician, composer and music teacher. On this site I have collected my compositions and my own arrangements of some very well known and popular melodies that are public domain and subsequently free to use without any obligations. They are easy arrangements for guitar, piano, ukulele, bass guitar, flute, clarinet, violin, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, cello and soprano recorder. I have included chord symbols transposed for C-instruments. This means that a song written in C-major for alto saxophone will have the chords symbols in Eb-major for C-instruments like piano and guitar!

The arrangements are free to print out and download. The  scores are PDF files and can be viewed with Acrobat Reader or some other free PDF reader. I have also included suggested scores and books from Sheet Music Plus. As an affiliate I have tried to find suitable copyright protected music that you will not find for free on my site and have included information from costumer reviews for your benefit!

All free sheet music scores at this site has been created using the music notation software Sibelius. I have found this to be the easiest application to use to compose, arrange, create and edit my scores. You will also find links with video clips at YouTube along with many of my melodies. The audio files in these clips are mostly generated by the music software and are not my own playing!

Browse fake books

In a fake book you will find songs and popular melodies written in a format that includes just the melody and the chord names. This concise format gives you the freedom to interpret the song the way you feel appropriate. This is a great way to learn melodies and songs rapidly for your own benefit or together with and ensemble.

Usually you will find only the melody written out with traditional sheet music notation. The lyrics if it is a song will be written beneath the notes and every word will be aligned to corresponding notes. You will find the names of the appropriate chords above the notes in shortened form like Cmin och Cm for C minor. This instead of writing out the notes of the chords.

This condensed form of writing down melodies makes it possible to include large amounts of melodies in a fairly small volume and makes a fake book perfect as a reference source of melodies and as a practice tool for sight reading.
